Crackin' Open a Cold One: Stay Hydrated With Electrolytes

Ah, electrolytes.

Anyone who’s ever played a sport or been even remotely active has heard about how important it is to replace them. The entire sports drink industry is seemingly a contest of which product is the best at accomplishing this, and for good reason.

Electrolytes are minerals that carry an electric charge in the body, and they play a crucial role in many of our body’s functions, including maintaining proper fluid balance (hydration), regulating our blood pressure, and helping our muscles and nerves to function properly.

While electrolytes are a key ingredient in our favorite sports drinks, they aren’t typically the first ingredient that comes to mind when you think of energy drinks.

It’s kind of weird when you think about it.

We use energy drinks to fuel us, whether that’s through our workdays, or even through our workouts. When we work hard – no matter where we are – we tend to sweat and lose electrolytes, and replacing them is instrumental in keeping us performing at our best.

So why wouldn’t electrolytes be included in energy drinks?

That’s a good question, and one we asked ourselves. Instead of just answering it, we decided to do something about it. That’s why we put four key electrolytes in Vyper Energy: magnesium, potassium, calcium, and sodium.

Here is how these four electrolytes help you level up:

  • Magnesium: Magnesium is essential for over 300 biochemical reactions in the body, including muscle and nerve function, regulating heart rhythm, and supporting a healthy immune system. Magnesium also plays a role in bone health and is important for energy production. Consuming enough magnesium may help to lower the risk of heart disease, stroke, and diabetes.
  • Potassium: Potassium is important for regulating blood pressure and fluid balance in the body. It is also essential for proper muscle and nerve function, and helps to keep the heart beating regularly.
  • Calcium: Everyone has probably heard it from their parents a million times: Calcium is important for building and maintaining strong bones and teeth. But did you know it also plays a role in muscle and nerve function, and helps to regulate the heart's rhythm?
  • Sodium: While consuming too much sodium can lead to high blood pressure, which is a major risk factor for heart disease and stroke, adequate sodium consumption can have some major health benefits. It is important for regulating fluid balance in the body, and it helps to maintain normal blood pressure.

  • To sum it up, electrolytes are a big deal. Maintaining a balance of electrolytes can lead to improvements in hydration, blood pressure, and nerve function, among other things. So what are you waiting for?
